Who can take part

  • You must be of Han Chinese ethnicity.
  • You must be between 18 and 79 years old.
  • You must have normal blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels.
  • You must have normal heart structure and function on ultrasound, with no major valve problems.
  • You cannot have serious lung, kidney, liver, or blood diseases, cancer, or autoimmune conditions.
  • If you have heart failure, you must have a specific heart rhythm (LBBB) and low pumping ability, or be in one of the other study groups.
