Herbal Formula and Exercise for Age-Related Muscle Loss
Part of Brain & nervous system clinical trials.
This trial tests a Chinese herbal formula (Huangjing Yangji) combined with resistance exercise (using elastic bands) to help improve muscle strength and mass in people with sarcopenia. It is designed for those who also have fatigue and weakness (a pattern called Spleen-Kidney Deficiency in Chinese medicine).
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are between 50 and 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) by your doctor.
- You have typical symptoms of fatigue, weak lower back and knees, and poor appetite (called Spleen-Kidney Deficiency in Chinese medicine).
- Your muscle loss is not due to another illness like cancer, thyroid problems, or severe liver/kidney disease.
- You can walk and do daily activities independently, and are able to safely do resistance exercises with elastic bands.
- You have not used steroids or muscle relaxants in the last 3 months.

This trial tests whether adding protein powder to a resistance exercise program can improve muscle strength and mobility in people with sarcopenia, a condition of age-related muscle loss. It is designed for adults aged 35–75 who have low muscle strength and slow walking speed or other physical performance issues.
This trial studies whether a structured exercise and nutrition program can improve muscle health in older adults with (pre)sarcopenia, especially those who may have slower walking or reduced strength. It also checks safety by excluding people with unstable health problems and several specific medical conditions.
This trial tests a combined exercise and nutrition program to help older adults with sarcopenia (muscle loss). It aims to improve muscle strength and function, especially for those with metabolic syndrome.
This trial tests whether a combination of a vitamin D-like drug (idecalcitol), whey protein powder, and a structured exercise program can help rebuild muscle strength and mass in people with sarcopenia. It lasts about 6 months.
This study tests a new capsule called TJ0113 to see if it can help older adults with sarcopenia (muscle loss) improve their muscle strength and physical function. It's a phase 2 study, meaning the drug is being tested for safety and effectiveness.
This study tests a food product called HB05P to see if it can help improve muscle strength and physical function in people with low muscle mass. It includes a supervised exercise program and may help you maintain independence as you age.
