Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and are having surgery for laryngeal (voice box) cancer.
- Your anesthesia team has decided you need a breathing tube placed while you are still awake.
- You have had a special CT scan of your neck or voice box within the last 2 weeks.
- You are able to understand the study and give permission (informed consent).
- You do not have severe anxiety, thinking problems, or a bleeding disorder that would make awake intubation unsafe.
- You have not had your entire voice box removed previously.
