Acupressure for Knee Arthritis in Older Chinese Adults

Knee Osteoarthritis (Knee OA)

This trial tests whether learning self-administered acupressure (a type of massage using fingertips) can help older Chinese adults with knee arthritis manage their pain and stiffness without medication. If you join, you will receive training in a community setting and use a smartphone app to track your progress.

Who can take part

  • You are of Chinese ethnicity.
  • You are 60 years old or older.
  • You can read Chinese and understand Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • You have had knee pain for at least 3 months and rate it at least 3 out of 10.
  • You have a smartphone with WhatsApp (or live with someone who does), and are willing to learn acupressure techniques.
  • You do not have severe memory problems, a BMI over 30, or have had knee replacement surgery.
