This study looks at whether certain patients have heart muscle injury (called MINS) after major liver or bile duct surgery. If you are having this type of surgery, your doctors will check your heart with a special blood test before and after. The goal is to find out who is at risk and help prevent problems.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 85 years old.
  • Your surgery is expected to take 3 hours or more and involves removing at least 3 liver segments or rebuilding bile ducts.
  • You will be in the ICU after surgery.
  • You have not had a recent heart attack, unstable chest pain, heart failure, or severe kidney disease.
  • Your doctor knows how blood flow to the liver will be managed during surgery.
