- You are 18 years or older.
- You are admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
- Your kidneys were working normally when you entered the ICU.
- Your kidney injury is caused by things like low fluid volume, after surgery, or you have mild to moderate chronic kidney disease (stage 3b or earlier) or stable heart failure where fluids are needed.
- You do not already have end-stage kidney disease or need dialysis.
- You have not had dialysis before coming to the ICU.
