Who can take part

  • You are in the ICU with sudden kidney injury treated with continuous kidney dialysis (CRRT) for less than 7 days
  • You also had at least one other major organ problem in the ICU (such as breathing support/ventilation, needing oxygen, large fluid needs, or using blood-pressure medicines for more than 12 hours)
  • Your recent weight loss or ultrafiltration (fluid removal) history fits the study limits (very little weight loss, or total fluid removed under 2000 mL)
  • Your blood-pressure medicine dose is low (norepinephrine under 0.5 micrograms/kg/min)
  • You do NOT show signs of poor circulation (you would avoid having 2 or more of: slow finger refill, pale/mottled skin, high lactate, or low ScvO2)
  • You may qualify if you are not “too overloaded” with fluid (fluid excess under 5% of baseline weight and no clear deep swelling of the lower back/flanks)
