Can brain stimulation help adults who stutter speak more fluently?

This study uses a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique to see if it can reduce speech errors in adults who have stuttered since childhood. If you are 22 or older, speak English as your main language, and have developmental stuttering, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 22 years old or older.
  • You have stuttered since childhood (developmental stuttering), even if not officially diagnosed.
  • English is your primary or dominant language.
  • You can come to the clinic in person for the session.
  • You have no other speech, language, or neurological conditions (like Tourette's or cerebral palsy).
  • You have no history of seizures, brain implants, or certain medical implants like pacemakers.
