Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a low platelet count that increases your risk of bleeding, and you need platelet transfusions.
  • You do not have an allergy to amotosalen (a substance used to treat platelets).
  • You are not allergic to components of human blood plasma.
  • You do not have certain blood disorders, such as immune thrombocytopenia, TTP/HUS, or certain inherited platelet problems.
