MR-guided radiation boost for esophageal cancer

Who can take part

  • You have squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus or gastroesophageal junction (Siewert type I or II).
  • Your tumor is considered locally advanced but can be removed with surgery (stages cT2-3, N0-3, M0).
  • You are scheduled to receive chemoradiation (carboplatin, paclitaxel, and 41.4 Gy radiation) followed by surgery.
  • Your tumor is 10 cm or shorter.
  • You are 18 years or older and have a good performance status (WHO 0-2).
  • You are able to have an MRI scan without any contraindications (like certain metal implants or claustrophobia).
