Who can take part

  • Must be a healthy adult without heart disease or rhythm problems.
  • No smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, or a BMI over 30.
  • Not using any banned performance-enhancing substances.
  • Not currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or unable to consent.
  • Must be part of a social security system or similar healthcare coverage.
  • For the athlete group: train at least 10 hours of endurance exercise each week for the last 5 years. For the control group: exercise less than 3 hours per week.
