- You are 18 years or older
- The radial artery in your wrist is blocked, confirmed by ultrasound or X-ray
- You are scheduled for a planned heart catheterization or angioplasty (not an emergency)
- Your doctor decides to use the ulnar artery in the same wrist
- The artery in your other wrist cannot be used due to blockage, anatomy issues, or to preserve it for future needs
- Your ulnar artery has good blood flow and structure, as seen on ultrasound
