Who can take part

  • You must have a confirmed Staphylococcus aureus infection in your blood.
  • You must be in the hospital when they check if you can join the trial.
  • The trial team must decide if you can participate within 72 hours of your first positive blood culture.
  • You cannot have active bleeding or have had major surgery in the last 7 days.
  • You cannot be on certain blood thinners (like aspirin or warfarin) or have a low platelet count.
  • You cannot have confirmed or suspected endocarditis (an infection of the heart valves).
