  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have a tooth with an infection at the root tip (apical periodontitis)
  • The tooth can be saved with a root canal and has not been treated before
  • The tooth has a fully grown root tip and no unusual shape or damage
  • The infection shows up on an X-ray as a dark spot 1-5 mm wide
  • You are able to give informed consent
