Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and have end-stage kidney disease (CKD stage 5) on maintenance or starting hemodialysis.
- You have a recently placed tunneled, double-lumen central venous catheter that has been working well for at least 8 days after placement.
- Your catheter is placed in the right or left internal jugular vein or the right or left femoral vein.
- Your catheter allows blood flow of at least 300 mL per minute during dialysis.
- You are willing to have only the study-assigned catheter lock solution and avoid other blood thinners or antiplatelet medicines during the study.
- You do not have active bleeding, a high risk of bleeding, or a catheter infection at the start of the study.
