Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have end-stage kidney disease (very low kidney function, eGFR below 15, or already on dialysis) and will need hemodialysis.
  • You are having surgery to create a new fistula in your upper arm (wrist or elbow area).
  • Your arm veins and arteries are large enough for a fistula (measured by ultrasound before surgery).
  • You can follow study instructions and attend follow-up visits.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or take multiple blood-thinning medications.
