EUS elastography for chest and stomach lesions

Mediastinal ( Chest) MassesGastrointestinal Subepithelial Tumors

This trial uses a special ultrasound technique called elastography during an endoscopy to help diagnose masses or lumps found in the chest or the lining of the stomach or intestines. The goal is to see if this technique can better tell what these lesions are, possibly reducing the need for a biopsy.

Who can take part

  • You are 12 years of age or older.
  • You have a mass or enlarged lymph node in the chest that was seen on a CT or MRI scan.
  • You have a lump (subepithelial lesion) found during an upper endoscopy.
  • A doctor who performs this type of ultrasound thinks the lesion can be reached and safely imaged with the special technique.
  • You do not have a bleeding problem that cannot be corrected, and you are able to safely undergo sedation for an endoscopy.
