Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a diagnosis of acute-on-chronic liver failure (a sudden worsening of chronic liver disease).
  • You must have moderate to severe fluid buildup in your belly (called ascites, grade 2 or 3).
  • You must be willing to follow a low-salt diet, undergo lab tests and urine collections, and attend follow-up visits.
  • You must not have certain conditions like severe kidney problems, very low sodium, active infections, or heart issues that make midodrine unsafe.
