Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH)

This study tests a new toothpaste containing nano-hydroxyapatite, a substance that mimics natural enamel, to see if it can help reduce sensitivity and improve the color of teeth affected by Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH)—a condition where first molars and sometimes front teeth have white, yellow, or brown spots. It is for children aged 6 to 12 who have these spots on at least one permanent molar or baby molar.

Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 6 and 12 years old.
  • They must have Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) or a similar condition on baby molars (HSPM).
  • The affected teeth should have white, creamy, yellow, or brown spots that are clearly separated from healthy enamel.
  • Permanent molars that are already decayed (have cavities) are not allowed.
  • No other enamel problems like fluorosis, enamel hypoplasia, or white spot lesions from braces.
  • Your child should not have taken any past treatments like liquid enamel or other remineralizing pastes on the affected teeth.
