Smallest effective dose of bupivacaine for chest surgery pain block

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are scheduled for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), a type of keyhole chest surgery
  • You are in generally good health (ASA physical status I, II, or III)
  • You are not allergic to local anesthetic medicines like bupivacaine
  • You do not have severe lung disease or a bleeding disorder
  • You are not pregnant and can communicate your pain levels after surgery
