Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • Your epilepsy is not controlled by medications (drug resistant).
  • Your seizures involve movement (such as jerking, stiffening, or twitching) and are confirmed by a doctor or brain wave test.
  • You have at least 3 seizures per month, with no more than 30 days between seizures.
  • You or your caregiver can keep a seizure diary for 3 months before the procedure.
  • You do not have seizures that are not related to epilepsy (like non-epileptic attacks or psychogenic seizures).
  • You have not had brain surgery to remove or destroy a spot in the brain in the last 6 months.
  • If you have a vagus nerve stimulator or similar device, it must be turned off for at least 6 months or removed.
  • If you are a woman of childbearing age, you are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to get pregnant during the study.
