- You have a BMI of 40 or higher, or a BMI of 35 or higher with at least one related health issue like diabetes or high blood pressure
- You are scheduled for your first weight-loss surgery (sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass) at Kasr Al-Ainy University Hospitals
- You have not had any previous weight-loss or major stomach or bowel surgery
- You do not have serious kidney, liver, or inflammatory bowel disease, and are not pregnant or breastfeeding
