Who can take part

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be between 40 and 60.
  • Your insurance must approve coverage for weight-loss surgery based on their rules.
  • You must plan to have laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
  • You must be willing to give blood at set times and collect and mail stool samples before and after surgery.
  • You must be willing to attend all required follow-up visits after surgery.
