Ultrasound treatment for mechanical low back pain

This trial studies a new way to treat mechanical low back pain using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), which uses sound waves to target the nerves that may be causing your pain. If you have mechanical low back pain that improves with a nerve block, you may qualify for this study.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have mechanical low back pain (pain from movement or strain, not from other causes).
  • A nerve block injection reduced your pain by at least 30 percent.
  • You have not had back surgery at the level where the treatment would be applied.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device.
