Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You have had heel pain for more than 6 months.
  • Your plantar fascia (a band of tissue in your foot) is thicker than 4.0 millimeters, as shown by an ultrasound.
  • You have pain at the bottom of your heel, especially when you take your first steps in the morning or after sitting a long time.
  • You have tried other treatments like stretching, shoe inserts, or pain medication, but they didn't help enough.
  • You can do a high-load strength training exercise program.

This study tests whether extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT)—sound waves directed at your heel—can relieve plantar fasciitis pain. You'll receive this non-surgical treatment and be monitored to see if it reduces your heel pain and improves walking.
