Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are referred to the bariatric medicine clinic at IUCPQ in Quebec City
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, with or without related health problems
  • Or you need to lose weight before a surgery (like joint replacement, hernia repair, or organ transplant)
  • Or you had weight-loss surgery but regained at least 15% of the weight you lost
  • Or you had weight-loss surgery but the medical team feels you did not lose enough weight
  • Or you had weight-loss surgery and are having related problems (like flushing, low blood sugar, kidney stones, vitamin deficiencies, or return of conditions that had improved)
