Diagnosing Piriformis Syndrome with Clinical Tests

Piriformis SyndromeGluteal Pain

Part of Brain & nervous system, Pain clinical trials.

This study aims to see how accurate certain physical exams and symptom checklists are for diagnosing Piriformis Syndrome, a condition where a deep buttock muscle presses on a nerve and causes pain. If you have buttock pain that gets worse when sitting or doing certain movements, this trial may help us learn how to better identify this condition.

Ultrasound-guided injection for buttock pain from piriformis syndrome

This study tests a new way to inject fluid around a tight muscle in the buttock (piriformis) to relieve pain. It uses ultrasound to guide the injection precisely and may help people with ongoing buttock pain.

Physical therapy techniques for piriformis syndrome pain

This study compares two hands-on physical therapy methods to reduce pain from piriformis syndrome, a condition where a muscle in the buttock area pinches a nerve. You'll receive treatment and be asked which technique works better for your pain and movement.

Muscle release therapy for piriformis syndrome

This study tests two different physical therapy techniques to relieve pain from piriformis syndrome, a condition where a muscle in the buttock presses on a nerve. Participants will attend therapy sessions to see which approach helps more with pain and movement.

NCT06534788Recruiting
Comparing two muscle therapies for piriformis syndrome

This study tests two different hands-on therapy techniques (reciprocal inhibition and post-facilitation muscle energy) along with standard physical therapy to see which works better for relieving piriformis syndrome—a condition that causes deep buttock pain. You may benefit if you have chronic hip/buttock pain and a shortened piriformis muscle.

Comparing two soft tissue techniques for piriformis syndrome

This trial compares two hands-on therapy methods to see which one better relieves pain and tightness caused by piriformis syndrome, a condition where a deep muscle in the buttock presses on a nerve. It may help if you have buttock pain that gets worse when sitting or moving your hip.

NCT06460675Recruiting
Comparing two muscle-relaxing techniques for piriformis syndrome

This study compares two gentle muscle-relaxing techniques (called muscle energy techniques) to treat piriformis syndrome—a condition where a muscle in the buttock presses on a nerve and causes pain. If you have hip or buttock pain that’s been bothersome for at least 3 months and worsens with sitting, this trial may help find a better way to manage your pain.
