Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 90 years old
  • You are awake and able to follow instructions
  • You either had a stroke with swallowing problems, or you are a healthy adult with normal swallowing
  • You do not have a history of head or neck cancer
  • You have no other medical condition that causes swallowing trouble, like neck surgery or long-term intubation
  • Your neck does not have wounds, an incision, or other structural problems that would prevent an ultrasound
