Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus or the junction between the esophagus and stomach that has spread or come back.
  • You have not had any previous treatment for this advanced stage of cancer.
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans.
  • You are in good enough health to be up and about (able to care for yourself).
  • You do not have serious medical conditions like active infections, other cancers in the last 5 years, or uncontrolled fluid buildup.
