Who can take part

  • You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that is locally advanced (has spread to nearby lymph nodes but not to distant organs) and can be surgically removed.
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old and have not received any prior cancer treatment for this condition.
  • Your overall health is good, with a performance status of 0 or 1 (meaning you can carry out daily activities without much help).
  • You have adequate organ function, such as normal blood counts, liver and kidney function, and no uncontrolled infections.
  • You have not been treated with immunotherapy drugs like PD-1 inhibitors before, and you do not have an active autoimmune disease or other serious medical conditions like recent heart problems or another cancer within the last 2 years.
