Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for shoulder surgery that uses both regional anesthesia (numbing a specific area) and general anesthesia (you are put to sleep).
  • You will stay in the hospital for at least 72 hours after surgery.
  • You are not currently taking strong opioid pain medications regularly.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or any other implanted device that could interfere with the treatment.
  • You are able to fill out self-assessment questionnaires about your pain.
