Nerve Stimulation Device for Amputee Phantom Pain

This trial tests an implanted nerve stimulation device (called Altius) to help reduce severe phantom limb or residual limb pain in people who've had lower-leg amputation and prior nerve surgery. Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You had a lower-leg amputation with prior nerve-targeted surgery (TMR, RPNI, or similar) at least 9 months ago
  • You have moderate to severe chronic neuropathic pain (numbness, tingling, burning, or shooting pain) that rates 4 or higher on a 0–10 pain scale
  • Your pain improved by at least 50% after a diagnostic lidocaine injection (numbing medication test)
  • You are able and willing to attend follow-up visits at 1, 3, and 6 months after implant surgery
