Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for an elective total shoulder replacement or a total reverse shoulder replacement
  • You can understand the study and provide consent
  • You are not currently using opioids (strong prescription pain medicines)
  • Your surgery will not be an emergency procedure
  • Your surgery is not a shoulder arthroscopy (keyhole camera surgery) or another type of shoulder procedure like partial replacement or resurfacing
  • You have not had any revision (repeat) shoulder surgery
