Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 12 and 23 months old and generally healthy.
  • Your child cannot have had a severe allergic reaction to any vaccine or to ingredients in this vaccine (like mannitol, sucrose, or polysaccharides).
  • Your child should not have received a meningococcal vaccine recently (within the last 6 months for some types, or any other meningococcal vaccine ever).
  • Your child must not have a weakened immune system (from conditions like HIV, long-term steroid use, or organ transplant) or a history of seizures.
  • Your child should not have a bleeding disorder or be taking blood thinners that would make injections risky.
