- You have a type of head and neck cancer called squamous cell carcinoma of the throat (pharynx) or voice box (larynx)
- Your cancer has not spread to distant parts of your body (like lungs or bones)
- You have not had radiation therapy to your head or neck before
- You have not had surgery to remove your primary cancer with the goal of curing it
- You are well enough to be up and about (ECOG score 0-2)
