  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your BMI (body mass index, a measure of weight relative to height) is between 28.0 and 45.0
  • You do not have diabetes or take diabetes medications
  • You have not had major heart problems, stroke, or chest pain in the past 6 months
  • You are not a current smoker and have not smoked regularly in the past 3 months
  • You can commit to follow-up visits over 2 years
