Who can take part
- Diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma confirmed by biopsy
- No previous chemotherapy or immunotherapy for esophageal cancer (unless it was more than 6 months ago and the cancer came back)
- Good overall health with ability to care for yourself (ECOG score 0 or 1)
- Adequate blood cell counts, kidney function, and liver function based on recent blood tests
- Willing to use birth control during the study and for 8 weeks after the last dose
- Expected to live at least 6 months and able to attend follow-up visits
