  • BMI (body weight relative to height) between 20–35 kg/m²
  • Have metabolic syndrome or high risk for it (based on Chinese medical guidelines)
  • Willing to eat only the food provided by the study for the duration
  • Not taking medications that affect blood sugar or cholesterol
  • Able to commit to not participate in other diet or drug studies for 4 months
