Mindfulness Training for Adults With Chronic Kidney Disease

This study tests whether a mindfulness program (guided meditation and breathing exercises delivered on a smartphone) can help people manage chronic kidney disease and improve their quality of life. You'll use a study-provided app to practice mindfulness several times a week for 8 weeks.

Who can take part

  • You are 18–80 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease for at least 6 months and have seen a kidney doctor at least twice in the past year
  • You receive your kidney care at Yale Medicine Nephrology or Yale New Haven Hospital
  • You can use a smartphone (the study will provide one if you don't have one)
  • You can read and write in English
  • You are not already doing regular meditation or mindfulness practice (more than 70 minutes per week)
