Compression therapy versus antibiotics for recurrent leg infections

This study compares two ways to prevent erysipelas (a painful skin infection) from coming back on your leg: wearing compression stockings alone, or taking antibiotics plus wearing compression stockings. Researchers want to see which approach works better and is safer long-term.

Who can take part

  • You've had at least 2 episodes of erysipelas on the same leg in the past year
  • Your most recent erysipelas was diagnosed within the past 3 months
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You can apply compression stockings yourself or with help from a caregiver
  • You are not severely immunocompromised (no HIV, organ transplant, or active cancer)
  • You have not taken antibiotics to prevent erysipelas in the past year
