Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have signs of a skin infection on your lower leg (like redness, swelling, heat, or pain) that started within the last 5 days
  • You have had chills, a feverish feeling, or a measured fever of at least 100.4°F (38°C) in the last 5 days
  • Your infection is moderate to severe based on how much swelling, redness, and pain you have
  • You have not had erysipelas in the past year, and you do not have blisters, purple spots, dead skin, or a crackling feeling under the skin
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you do not have certain health conditions like active hepatitis, kidney failure, or a weakened immune system
