Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have a severe ankle fracture (pilon fracture) that damages the joint surface and needs a temporary external frame
- Your injury is a closed wound (skin is not broken by the fracture)
- You have never had ankle surgery before
- You do not have arthritis in your ankle before this injury
- You do not have other serious injuries that make it unsafe to stabilize your ankle this way
