Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You need to have an intravenous (IV) catheter placed in your arm or hand as part of your medical care
- You are awake, alert, and able to understand and answer questions about how you feel
- You have not had an IV catheter placed in the last 24 hours
- You do not have open wounds, skin infections, or severe skin conditions where the IV will be placed
- You are willing to participate and sign a consent form agreeing to be in the study
