This study compares two types of iron supplements—regular iron pills versus a newer liposomal (specially packaged) iron formula—to see which works better for women whose heavy menstrual bleeding has caused low iron levels. You'll take one type for several weeks while doctors monitor your blood iron levels.

Who can take part

  • You are a woman aged 15–49 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia caused by heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding
  • You have not taken iron supplements in the past 3 months, or you have never taken them before
  • You can take pills by mouth without difficulty
  • You do not have stomach problems like gastritis or use acid-blocking medications regularly
  • You sign a consent form agreeing to participate
