  • You have been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas head, bile duct, duodenum, or tissue around the pancreas
  • You are scheduled for an elective (planned, not emergency) Whipple procedure
  • You are age 18 or older
  • You can eat by mouth before surgery (no conditions preventing you from eating)
  • Your surgery is being done as a planned procedure, not an emergency
