Who can take part
- Your vein problems must be visible (like swelling, discoloration, or skin changes) or cause symptoms—confirmed by ultrasound
- Your great saphenous vein must be enlarged but not too large: between 6–12 millimeters in diameter
- You cannot be allergic to sclerosing medications (drugs used to shrink veins)
- You have not had recent blood clots, strokes, or lung clots
- You are not pregnant and do not have a severe leg artery disease
- You cannot have an active infection or be on prolonged bed rest
