  • You are 18 years old or older
  • Paramedics responding to you have special equipment to do a blood test on scene
  • You have symptoms suggesting a possible heart attack (like chest pain, shortness of breath, or arm pain)
  • You are being transported to a hospital for evaluation
  • Your ambulance EKG (heart rhythm strip) does not show a specific pattern called ST-segment elevation
  • You do not need emergency life-saving procedures that would prevent study participation
