High-Energy Laser for Thumb Joint Arthritis

Who can take part

  • Arthritis at the base of your thumb (trapezoid-metacarpal joint) that is early-stage (stage 1 or 2, confirmed by X-ray taken within the last 6 months)
  • Thumb pain that has been present for at least 6 months
  • Current pain level of at least 4 out of 10 on a pain scale
  • No recent steroid injections or physical therapy in the affected thumb within the past 4 weeks
  • No rheumatoid arthritis, heart rhythm problems, pacemaker, or pregnancy
