Who can take part

  • You received a solid organ transplant (kidney, liver, heart, lung, or pancreas) and have a confirmed CMV infection detected by blood test
  • You are currently taking tacrolimus and mycophenolic acid (MPA) as part of your anti-rejection medications, with or without steroids
  • You have not received more than 3 days of antiviral drugs (like valganciclovir or IV ganciclovir) for your CMV infection before enrolling
  • Your transplanted organ is working reasonably well and you are not having acute rejection that needs immediate medication changes
  • You do not have a known allergy or intolerance to everolimus or mTOR inhibitors
  • You are at least 18 years old and able to provide informed consent
