Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter
- You are scheduled for a transoesophageal echocardiography-guided cardioversion (a procedure where a probe goes down your throat to check the heart while delivering electrical therapy to restore normal rhythm)
- You can safely go home the same day after the procedure
- You do not have low blood pressure, severe lung disease, or a very high body mass index
- You have no known allergic reactions to sedation medicines and are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- You do not have a blood clot in your heart
